Wow! Can you all believe we are done with Curriculum 341. It's a bittersweet feeling. I really enjoyed this summer class. Although it was intense it was a class where I honestly wouldn't change a thing. We have all come a long way. Creating a learning environment where students are career and college ready is so beneficial. Not only for the students but educators as well. It's an overall learning experience for all. I feel like college and career ready classes are similar to cultural classes. Helps us all build abetter worldview understanding. Also, career ready mentorships should be in demand. I remember when I was graduating high school I hadNO idea what I wanted to do with my life. I waisted a lot of time at Delta college trying to figure it out. Luckily, I found my calling in education and I love it. Everyone killed their presentations. The tome spent on the presentations flew by. All so creative and relevant.
Innovation and expanding horizons in class will lead the way for students to do the same. More hands on learning should be implemented. It will help the students gain a lot more knowledge and experience. One thing I truly took away from the class was that students need mentorships from their teachers. Also, integrating CTE standard is a lot more simple than we actually think. I highly enjoyed the Integration project with my group. Such lovely ladies. So knowledgeable and sweet. Andrew, THANK YOU for all your patience and nice personality. You felt like a cool classmate with all the answers. You were supper organized, clear, and patient. great educator qualities. |

Well, class was going well untillllllllllllll...... some way some how I got kicked out of our Zoom meeting. I feel like a missed some valuable information. Luckily, GRIGGS records our meetings and if I need to refresh my memory or like today missed anything I can go back and watch:). Saved by the video recording. Also, big thanks Griggs for going over APA and EBSCO.. APA isn't my string suit. Has anyone else noticed our groups are done by the first letter of our name? LOL. The girls in my breakout room and I always giggle when we see we are working with each other once again. Our group has developed a sense of understanding and agreement with each other. Which I enjoy, it's a little girl time in class. Creating a comfortable and understanding school culture was the bid topic in our group. We all think it's important to make our students want to come to school and feel cared for/ important. We want to make our students feel like we are a family and keep them interested in wanting to learn. Discuss any issues they might have. A period or a 15/20 min meeting for students to do individual work, focus on career ready information, advice/counseling while make a huge impact to the students life. I saw a video of Mountain House High School here in SJ county that uses career ready path/ trust/ independence to students to learn with projects and their own way and they are doing great. Attendance is almost perfect and its a very innovative space.

Large Schools VS. Small Schools was a topic that I feel had a lot of personal ideas of what is better. Personally, I prefer smaller educational settings. I learn better in small classrooms where e I know my classmate and my professor knows my name. Not just another number. Before attending TCSJ I attended Delta College, CSU Los Angeles, and Stan State. I would not recommend CSULA to anyone the classes are super packed. I was a number in the class and I never interacted with my professors. It was all big forum classes with 100+ students. I couldn't hear and I was lost 99.9% of the time. There is so sense of care or relevance as a human being to the class. You're just there and taking your test. It never made me feel WANTING to go to class. As an adult I felt that . Unimportant. As a youngster I can't imagine how they would feel in a big school setting. The only benefit I can see students getting from big schools is a sense of independence and relying on yourself to get things done. Which will better prepare students to adulthood. Overall, I personally feel like students will have a better learning experience in a small school setting where they have career ready resources.

Class Reflection 2
Class was filled with many new educational terms. In the Class Terms Gallery Walk activity I was filled with doubt. Whether I truly knew what the meaning behind some of the terms. A term that I had never encountered before was "Competency-based education". Which refers to systems of instruction, assessment, grading, and academic reporting that are based on students demonstrating that they have learned the knowledge and skills they are expected to learn as they progress through their education. After some thought into my personal learning experience it seemed to make sense... I'm apart of competency-based learning and education through TCSJ. The synthesis paper with 10 scholarly articles I started last semester is an academic reporting and the finish product will demonstrate the knowledge and skills I acquired through my time here.
